1600cc Single port unleaded fuel compatiilty

Hi guys,
Quick question. Do single port flat 4 engines need hardened valve seats for unleaded?

My understanding was from 1967 onwards they don’t.

Does anyone know for sure?

Yes they do, you've got it the wrong way round.
From 1967 all VW engines can run on unleaded fuels with no modification.

All 1600 SP engines from 1967 onwards do not need modification to run on unleaded.
