Hi folks,
not posted for a long time but need to now as new house forces very reluctant sale of "Stan" my '68 Bay.
Bought him in November 2005 from VW Relics and since then have done quite a bit of mechanical work but alas, my welding skills are not up to scratch so it's due a tickle with the welding stick in the usual areas such as arches and sills.
Still runs 1600sp but now full flowed with offboard oil filter, pertronix ignitor, 009.Bottom end rebuilt by Laurie Petite and new barrels, pistons, oil cooler etc fitted in 2006. Brakes overhauled by Jay at Bugshop 2008.
Interior is homegrown camper with bed, sink, 2 ring burner w/grill.
3 point inertia belts up front and 2 x lap straps in back. All original door cards etc. and still have original rear, split fold middle and front seats for the lucky new owner.
Runs well, has MOT up to March 2011 and Tax exempt.
