1969 VW Westfalia LHD for Sale
I am selling my 1969 VW Type 2 (Early Bay) Westfalia camper van. I bought this van from a friend in March 2007 and he had imported the van from California in August 2005. As its pre '72 its Road Tax exempt.
Its left hand drive and in very original condition. It has had the rear battery tray replaced and the paint colour matched to the original, other than that its the original paint, just mopped and polished. The underside was just paint, no under seal, so I got the whole van wax-oiled underneath to cope with the British climate. It has been stored in a garage and used for family holidays but as my kids have got bigger we no longer use it as much hence the sale.
It has a 1.6 twin port engine single carb, I believe its a replacement unit and not the original but it runs well and has been well serviced by a local VW specialist. I got all the tin wear powder coated a while ago so it all looks very smart.
The van has never been lowered or messed with as far as I can tell. It has the original Westfalia interior, I replaced the roof canvas with a reproduction as the original was in a very bad condition, I also replaced the hammock canvas with a local made reproduction based on the original hammock from the van. I also have the original hammock cot that goes over driver/passenger seats so the van can sleep four. The radio had already been replaced with a more modern unit, so I replaced it again with a Sony MP3/blue-tooth radio.
The mileage on the clock states 53,000 miles and I have no reason to doubt it as it had 46,000 when imported and has only had light use.
I am open to sensible offers around £16,000. I have included a few photos, the one from the rear shows a different exhaust, I have fitted a standard exhaust to the engine now, not the one pictured.
It will have 12 months MOT when sold and is located in the south Birmingham area.
I would recommend coming and viewing this lovely example of a early bay westy. Just contact me on email address [email protected] or phone me on O7538579689.
