Hi Guys,

I'm the proud owner of a 1970 Tin Top and want to keep the wide five set up but run disc's on the front.

The only option i can see so far is CSP but these are like £800!!

Are they any other options out there!!!

Help Me...

Ian

Hello mate, I have a 1970 tin top and have late bay discs on the front. I run adapters from 4 stud to 5 stud and have had no problems from them in the 8 years or so they have been fitted 8)

Hi Mate,

Thanks for the reply!

That sounds like alot cheaper and better option.

Is it an easy fit for late disc's onto an early bay?

And you can still run wide 5 as normal!

Do you upgrade the master cyilnder to a late bay as well?

Where did you get the adapters from?

I set of polished raders are the way forward!!

Cheers

Ian

Hello mate, it all fitted straight on, i cant remember where i got the discs from, think it was Vw heritage, but will have to check. You can get the adapters from most places that sell wheels :D

Just remember that your wheels are going to stick out a hell of a lot more with the adapters and offset on those wheels.

4" Narrowed Beam is on it's way over from Cali........

Narrow is the way forward!

Thanks for your help guys,

if you want front discs you can bolt the >71 discs straight on to a balljoint beam and use adapters for wide 5 like easy, i happen to have a spare set of 71 spindles calipers and discs going cheap.

Hmmmm,

Thinking a weedeater and they seem to be poular?

I get Trade at VW Heritage and they have quoted £350...

Any ideas>?

a quick question regarding bolting calipers to an earlier drum brake bus...

Would i be right in saying the 71' was the first year with servo assisted brakes? if you were to bolt calipers onto an earlier drum model would there be any issues regarding the servo etc? would it affect braking alot?

narrowed beam helps

which beam/supplier you go for??

definately go for the weed eater, i have never seen a beam go back in that well before, it goes in better than the original 8) Really well made and you dont have to worry about all of them beams that have been fitted with shoddy adjusters, these are built to last and work how they should.....nuff said.

Now go forth and purchase!
