This is my new project a 1970 poptop Westy , found this camper in Fontana, California.
Solid bus with a complete Westfalia interior , if all goes as planned this is the bus I will take to Busfest this year.
I had to let the other bus go and is now at MCJ's headquarters in Oxford.
Metal is solid, looks like only the battery tray will have to be replaced. Bus is already getting stripped for paint.

You haven't got any spare ID tags for a 1970 bus have you :(

Not at the moment , I'll let you know if I run into a set.

Another nice bus Juan.

Thanks dude , I am excited about this one.

Thanks dudes , I will definately keep the pictures coming.
I will go visit it next and every friday until bodywork and paint are done.

Juan.

Went to visit the bus today and not too much to report.
Engine and tranny are out to paint the engine bay and to service both.
I need to look for a front bumper blade , the ends are in good shape but the center piece is too damaged. I have the rear inside the bus.

Dismantle continues.

Why would the previous owner install the step on the wrong side ?

I have seen and heard that people put them on both sides so they can reach the top easier. They can stand on the step to tie things down. That and I guess just for looks. So maybe the PO had one on each side at one time and for some reason the sliding door side one has disappeared?
