1972 Baywindow gearbox question

Hi i have a 1972 baywindow and have to hold it into 1st gear when i pull of, sometimes it will stay in gear with out me holding it, ive changed the coupling underneath but still does it anything else i can do or is the gearbox had it :(

Sounds like a box change to me, just check your oil is ok first, i'd run the bus as it is for now and hunt a spare box out for a winter project when the bus is off the road.

Make sure the filler plug will undo before you drain the oil. You wouldn't want an empty transmission with no way of filling it back up. This happened to a mate of mine.
