my 1971 has a 1600 twin port engine and a 31 pct carb...
if i put a 34 pct carb on what will be the benefts?

Actually it won't make much difference as the carbs are very similar. The 31 PICT is a good carb well suited to 1600 engines provided it is jetted properly. It was originally fitted to 1300tp engines so are you sure your engine is really 1600cc?
Have look here for some more info http://www.vw-resource.com/carb.html#brosol

Change my 31 Pict on my twin port to a 34 Pict and it ran alot better. It allows a bit more airflow, so its less asthmatic on hills.

IMO worth the change.

thanks for the help. im 90% sure its a 1600 as its got a volks spares green engine in it.
and its on the hills its a bit slow.but saying that iv done over 20.000 miles in the last 2 years with it on. 34 pic is going on monday :D i will let you know the results.
