Hi Guys,

Just wanted to confirm that if the steering wheel turns six inches before any component moves underneath then the steering box is shot? Everything looks good underneath, slight up and down on swivel pin though as said the steering wheel freeplay is before anything else is engaged!

Where to buy a steering box for a LHD and is it an easy enough job?

Regards,

J

Have you checked the joint between the column and the steering box?

Have you checked the adjustment of the box itself?

All checked. Rubber still intact and adjustment can go no further without grinding :/

Changing the box is straightforward. Bit fiddly undoing the rag joint. The only hard bit can be removing the drop arm off the box. A puller and some heat and hammering is often needed.

If my steering box were to need replacing I would fit a box from a late bay. It's better.

Not a straight swap. Need to change a bolt hole. (there's a thread on the forum about it, but it's not hard if your handy).

Nice one thanks :) now to source one. Do you have to do much conversion for the late bay box?
