We took the crewie down to Concept Sails in Dorset last week to have a tonneau cover fitted, and they've done a cracking job!

Highly recommend them if you need a cover for your SC or DC. Prices between £180 and £240 depending on colour/fabric you want.

They fitted it in half a day, excellent service. The fabric used is sail fabric so really hard wearing and very light. When it's folded up you could get it in a carrier bag!

And we fitted a new roofrack too...more piccies to follow....

Nice idea - I used to use one near Chichester for all sorts of things, they are used cutting a lot of one off's for boats - They've done really nice job here.

- Great color match & lovely crew cab.

Thanks for all your kind comments peeps...

here's a piccy taken this morning....nearly there, just need to lower him a few inches, but not much. I didn't realise what a different drive a commercial is to a standard (microbus) bus, the suspension is set up much firmer, he drives really well, I could drive about in him all day!

There is something really nice about driving a stock VW.... 8) 8)

looking totally spot on in that last pic 8) great work

Thought I'd take the door cards off today so I could check the state of the doors on the inside and have a play with the Anchor Wax

This bus is used every day, whatever the weather so the very least I can do is try to protect it as much as possible.

Here's the load door, blimey, how clean?

Just hoovered it out and then painted in the Anchor wax before putting it all back together again.

Then the cab doors. Even though the bus is nice and clean on the outside you can never be too sure what you might find, but I was amazed to find this:

plastic sheeting! It seemed almost criminal to take it off, but I had to peel it back to get to the inside of the door, which looked like this:

I've never had a van with such clean doors, I was well pleased! So, swept it out and then lots more Anchor Wax before re-sealing the plastic sheeting with some bathroom sealant and then putting the door cards back. Here it is after the Anchor Wax had been painted on.

I need to go back at some point and insulate the rear panels, but that can wait for another day, let the Anchor Wax go off first.

That little job took about an hour...

And the worst thing I found in the doors was loads of cobwebs! No dead american spiders though....

Hope the bathroom sealant wasn't Silicone based - can lead to rust if it is - you should use polyeurethene (if that's how its spelt  ) as this won't
cause rust in the future - just my two penneth worth.

Like Airtime says - wow 8)

Hi Carole,

Looking really good,

What sound / heat insulation are you going to use on the doors?

Fantastic.

Where do you get the Anchor wax from as only morris web site the other day.

Mike

Hi Guys, thanks for the comments..... 8)

Gninnam, thanks for the tip on the bathroom sealant, may have to keep an eye on that....you learn something new every day!

Tintintin, I'm going to use roofing felt on the inside of the doors as a kind of sound deadening material; you can buy it on a roll in different widths from B&Q or Wickes, just cut it to length and stick it on (It's sticky backed as well....) I'll then use a double layer of silver insulation bubblewrap, Wickes is cheapest for that. Check out my Beeglebus thread, I did the same for the Westy, works really well.

I bought some sound deadening felt on a roll from Woolies as well, so I'm going to use that under the rear bench seat on the floor, and up against the firewall to help keep the noise down.

And Kempy, I bought the Anchor Wax from 'Filby' on the SSVC forum, £30 for 5 litres posted. It goes a long way so 5 litres is plenty.

Carole

Carole,

Lovely, lovely, lovely !

But please keep it stock height - everything else on it is so original.

I know what you mean.....it's a difficult one as it looks and drives great. This is the first bus I've had that I'm perfectly happy to leave just as it is, you can't beat a stock VW.........

But.......if we do lower it it will only be by about 3", so nothing too drastic, and even then it will be on adjusters on the front beam so can always be put back to stock height, promise!

Anyways, it will be as you see it at it's stock height at Volksworld, just as VW intended.. 8)

I don't do stock height and this bus needs lowering, but............there is something inside that says leave it as it is! It is COOOOL! 8)

I love it!

This soons like a good decision. Lower it, don't slam it. 8)
