Damn Nice work m8, I have a 72 Crossover, low light with big back, just wondering is that an early engine hatch and an early rear valance ???

Edit: having just looked at some more pics i have realised thast it isnt the early engine hatch

Cheers

I still have the original engine hatch.

Wanted a new hatch for rebuild.

Will hold onto original and maybe change back at some point.

Will get some more photos on the site soon.

I believe the early engine lid is taller. Pre '72 vans have a removeable rear valence also, makes engine removal easier 8)

That's a brilliant standard of work you've got there, and I thought the van looked good before you started working on it

From a distance it was ok but the rear arches were needing repairing and the 'specialist' that had a go at it for me made a right f@@@ up of it, has to be done again.

Once it was opened up just kept on going around the vehicle. Nearly there!

Will post more pics soon. Hope to be ready for dubfreeze.

A bit further on now, 2nd coat of primer of (more blocking down to be done).

Some good work going on there fella - feels like it takes for ever, but
will be worth it at the end! :D

Yes, just pop it in to garage for a quick tidy up. I thought it would take a few weeks, is now 8 months in!!

Like you say worth it in the end, should last another 35 years.

That is a top job mate, will be very interested to see how it all turns out. The quality of work is a credit to you :D

Kev

gonna be ace, cant wait to see the finished paint :D

Will post pictures soon for first few coats of paint.

Yes keeping original colour = Neptunblau L 50 K (Neptune Blue).

Will get M codes next time over at garage.

Thank you for the kind comments hopefully start coming to meets in the van soon.

Hi all!

I'm new here and will pop up some pictures of my early Bay shortly.

Tintop, very interested in your topic as I too have a 72 with low light front and large light rear. Mine is also Neptune Blue and I'm planning a full resto and repaint this year in the origional colour.

So I will be very interested to see yours for inspiration when it is finaly in paint!
Great work so far.... it will look top when finished and make sure you get those pictures up as soon as you can!

Thank you

The roof, front panel, engine bay and inners are now painted.

Sides still need doing, i will post pictures shortly.

That's your chassis number isn't it - check it against the plate behind your passenger seat!

I also have a '72 Neptune Blue van - perhaps Camperdan, you and myself could start a Super-Exclusive Crossover Club? Let me know

;)

EDIT: Mine's a Devon, though!!!

Sounds like a great idea to me!

Just sorted my photobucket account so I can post pictures - here's a quick picture of my van:

MVC-013S.jpg

The lower half was re-painted about 10 years ago and is unfortunately a few shades lighter than it should be?
So with this fact added to the few rust problems, this is why I plan to get the whole thing restored and repainted this year..... bring on the gleaming fresh Neptune!

Tintop, have you any pictures of your bus in the new paint yet to tempt us all with?

Camperdan - your van is excellent. Which part of the country are you in?

Cross overs - one year only!!!

Will take some more pictures and post them soon, next time over.
The problem with not having the garage close to your house, apologies for the delay.
