A question about dyno to alternator wirng.

Hi there I have a 70 bay 1600 and a couple of years ago changed from a dyno to alternator after a breakdown, I think the parts came from gsf as a kit. Should the alternator (G) warning light be wired through the voltage regulator or directly from the alternator to the warning light?

with the one I just installed the old voltage regulator was removed. blue wire from the G light goes to the little spade connector. then a single feed direct from the battery to the ringed nut connection?
