advice on campsites in Germany

I would like to take a gold D of E group to Germany next year possibly Munich. ANy ideas on campsites with good walking near. Would need 3 or 4 sites. Also can you wild camp in Germany? I am going to Recce these in my van This summer. Cheers for any help

try the Eifel National Park - we had some great times there - woods, lakes, heaths, ex military training wilderness, battle of the bulge remnants, happy folk, etc - and great for wildlife spotting - we found a site nr Woffelsburg - it's not nr Munich but it's a lot closer to the Channel...!
