hey.... basically.... just found my 4 in to 1 has completely fallen to pieces!!!!
have been running a bugpack mild steel 4 into1 wrapped in heat wrap, with a bugpack single quiet pack ceramic coated.

need to replace with similar... but its gonna have to be stainless i think.....
i wouldnt buy another ceramic coated as its a crap coating...looks lovely for a month or so.... then disintegrates!!!!!

whats out there...whats a good buy.... whats everyone else running?!?!
ive been told bluebird customs is the way to go?!?

ive also noticed stainless set ups like mine on bays etc....where the silencer tilts back at an angle and looks totally wrong in my eyes!!!

cheers ion advance...
jp

just looking on the jk site.... looks like this is the one that tilts as i explained....

Split_Performance__Exhaust.jpg

steer clear of that me thinks!
oh....apologies to anyone who has one..... just doesnt look quite right to me!

although...could that be better for clearance on lowered?!?

....Ian would you please stop putting those obscene pictures up ;)

:?: can you tell when it is fitted that the box is at a funny angle :?:

PS God painted his bay purple 8) and it did look good

anybody with experience of these?!? need to order today!!!! :?

I've had two VW Speed shop mufflers, both stainless, seems really good to me, so I'd have no hesitation recommending their products

Gareth

cheers for the helps guys.....
ordered a bluebird in the end....fitting kit and carriage incl in the price.... :D

vw speed shop wouldnt answer the phone all morning.... wtf?!?

scarey though... click of a few button and youve just spent 300 sheets

no chance si.... thats a pure credit card bash.... its either that or the van goes nowhere for a loooong while!
rather have not had to buy it...... :?

aahhhhhffs!!!!!

riddle me this and riddle me that....

why does a crappy quality bugpack single quiet pack fit my engine perfectly...

and yet a top quality stainless bluebird system not fit at all?!?!?!

i thought these things were sposed to be the mutts nuts?!?!? thr 4 into 1 slips onto the heat exchangers perfectly but the top tubes wont go anywhere near the cylinder head bolts! you'd expect a small amount of brute force to get ito on.... and by rights i can almost bend one into place but it means the other side misses the cylinder head studs by over 3 quarters of an inch.....im a big chap but there is no way i can bend the pipe into place!!!!1

to ad insult to injury the hot spot flanges have threaded bolt holes... 2 are fine, one you can cant the bolt to even bite into and the other the thread has been tapped at an angle.... what feckin use is that?!?!

all in all...totally disappointed and bluebird are getting a phone call fro me in a moment.....
i wouldnt reccommend this system to anyone

looks like the bus is out of action for this weekend then......

That's one of the reasons I suggested you buy a mild steel header (ceramic if you are fussy) and stainless muffler jp. I've struggled with these stainless headers over the years and never found one that fits properly. Don't know about VW speedshop though - I'm told theirs are better but.......... My thoery is that all these headers were made in Taiwan using a photo of a VW engine as a template!

all sorted now!

spoke to bluebird and they offered to take it back and replace it....bit in the meantime asked if i could try one more time before they sent a courier....

with a bit of will power and elbow ....I GOT IT ON!

van is now running sweet again!!!!
happy days!

I tend to find it easier if you fit the mounts first (and loosely fit the nuts) then adjusted the heat exchangers to suit.
Glad you got sorted though, wander why bluebird asked you to try again though if you weren't happy :?
