Just seen this on fleabay - looks interesting 8)

Never seen or heard of a unit like it before - not my listing by the way or anything to do with me!

You could get them on Aussie models back in the day. The systems pop up for sale over there every once and a while. Being 40+ years old they are heavy, inefficient and a total ball ache to install. A 12V dash mounted fan is more efficient.

Got excited about one of these a few months ago on fleabay. Went and had a look at threads on Samba pages. General opinion seemed to be that they were not very effective. They seemed to be aftermarket ones offered by dealerships - not VW manufacture. There were several different types. Hence I didn't bid. Be great if they made an after market one that was efficient - Now I would be interested in that!

I've never felt my van needed air-con.

Even going through Spain and France last year in mid-summer, the van stayed much cooler than the convertible (with no A/C) my friends were driving :)

Generally fitted to late bays that type from the factory, early bay ones were under dash units, agree with everyone else, dont bother.

If you really want lots of cool air in the van open your front quarter light windows and push them all the way around and they act as scoops and drag in lots of fresh air and its free
