For the bumpers, we are going to weld up the seams up front, shave the bolts, paint it texas brown, and install deluxe trim.
The rear bumper, we are going to tuck it in close, make sure the gap around the body is even, shave the bolts, paint it texas brown and install deluxe trim.
We shave the front reflectors and emblem are the only things I didn't like outside. It used to be a camper bus, I am sure of it but it got raided and most of that was removed out of the vehicle prior to me purchasing it. It had one of the seats in the far back that flipped with hinges, I still have it if anyone is interested. It had hooks in the floor for the sink, from what I can tell.
I found a standard middle and rear seat from our local junk yard guy and test fit them in it. I love that look a lot better, IMO.
We are removing all the vents to the rear seats as it just makes the bus look to super beetlish. Everything will be vintage styling with out trying to emulate a split bus. We are doing solid windows through out the bus, no more vent wings.
I have our 3.5 & 4" drop for the bus with drop spindles and rear lowering plates. Front and rear shocks along with adjustable tie rods. I am going to redo the rear brakes to stock and stud the drums. The front will get our BAD Series Disc Brake kit. We will be outfitting the bus with 17x7" Smoothies powdercoated with trim rings and painted hub caps.
I had the trans rebuild and a stock 1600cc that is being put together with dual carbs and an A1 exhaust for clean appearance.
For the interior, I am going a little different route. We are going with cream leatherette and chocolate leatherette with a plaid "burberry stlye" flannel inserts. Banjo steering wheel that we will paint match along with oatmeal square weave carpet through out. I am not a rubber mat guy, even though my wallet is telling me that this would be a better idea. The team got together and decided that the rear deck is going to be buffed out and nice oak strips be cut and attached in between the ribs kind of lick the early ford truck beads. Something different and sexy all at the same time.
Last night the wife let me play and had a killer of a time with the ignition switch as it needed replacement. But I did decide to pull the dash, smooth it the vinyl out and paint it chocolate brown to match the upper part of the car. I think this will help in de-plastic-ing the car and giving it some sexiness. I used to do that with some street trucks back in the day, I hope I still have my touch.
