Early bay Louvre window sealing - another option?
Wanna throw this one out there to gain any opinion before taking the plunge.

Recently had a go at replacing seals that go on the glass panes of the jalousie windows on my 70 early bay. Nightmare job and in the end broke 2 glass panes.

I have now purchased some clear acrylic in the same size to replace toughened glass but although it's 3mm thick as the original glass it is extremely hard to fit in the Ali frame work with the seal on. I have split two seals trying. Acrylic is a good replacement as clearer and stronger than the glass.

So my not so practical brain gave me the idea of putting some clear silicone in the channel and fitting the acrylic without the seal fitted. When the 4 pieces are fitted together the sealant should squeeze out of the edges. When dry cut with scalpel next to frame, peel off excess and job done and hopefully waterproof/rattle free.

Comments please fellas
