Hmm, this ones baffling me.
Fitted an alternator conversion a few weeks ago, all good for 1,000 miles, then heard a strange noise & realised that it was coming from the pulley, this had become warped/bent. As this was clearly made of cheese, I bought a Tru-Spin one, checked everything was spinning freely, no problems, checked keyway etc all good. Fitted new pulley, belt (not too tight), everything in line etc.
250 miles later, whirring sound then BANG !
The inner pulley has disintegrated, pieces all over the engine bay (fortunately missing the rear quarters), the drive belt is still intact
Any ideas anyone?
It looks as if the pulley has micro cracks, so could be too hard, but I am certainly open to suggestions......
Thanks
Graham
