any brickies out there??????????

im ready for the bricks for my conservatory,im just after some info on what a should be paying.for bricks and the brickie.

il be needing 20 m2 of bricks

20 m2 of blocks

strongy, in a previous life i was a brickwork sub contractor not 50 miles from you. In those days and it was only five years ago we were charging £15m2 for blockwork and £400 per 1000 for brickwork. We were brickwork specialists and hence charged good money for a good job. What i`m trying to say to you is get three quotes. Pick a random builder from the yellow pages, pick a builder from word of mouth and lastly ask around at you local pub on a friday afternoon approx 4-6pm( anyone that looks mucky).....all good builders adhere to P.O.E.T.S day and can be found in the pub for a wind down at this time.
All that said prices are regional and differ vastly and times are very hard , but please if a builder says he can start the next day be wary!!!!!!!

thanks bud,got a good price in from a builder that a friend knows and it seems cheep ish.so prob going for that.he has a good name aswell.
just need to buy some bricks now.top half is going to be the most exspensive bit,cos i dont know anyone that can do it.so have to pay the going rate .

f****ng brickie,still searching for a brickie,pref one that that sticks to the price.thought we were in a resetion and things were cheeper.

i need 1000 bricks laying and blocks to the same hight,im i being tight by thinking £560 cash is exspensive???esp when there saying its a days work

you can lay 1000 bricks piece of piss in a day on site but not on those sort of jobs.

ye well its fairley good conditions,rectangle,no fussy corners,ive stacked the bricks round the outside.ive got it down to £450since posting ,but im still trying for cheeper :mrgreen:

2 days work for a tidy job..brickwork prices are about £350 per 1000 plus your blockwork. £450 sounds reasonable to me..

I quoted an extention 4 weeks ago, 120k, guy said i thought i'd av paid that last year but not this year due to recession..!! told him to go fek his self...
