I've a custom built GT Zaskar. I was a team rider and specialist shop assistant so got the best cheap, but now time means I'm just a commuter on a flash bike

ha! ive still got an orig us built 1991 zaskar frame in the attic.... keep thinking of selling it but i love it too much! would still ride it but it has a ubrake mount on the back and nowt else fits!!

yeah i reckon you cant beat a boardman for quality and very highly specced bike for the price!!!!
they do lovely limited editions...whcih i think are runs of 500 a year...

Another Zaskar rider here

1996 team LE with full XTR bought new.

Don't get out on this much as there isn't many places around here to ride now, so tend to use one of the road bikes or even go for a run.

I do a bit, when I get time in between the family, bus and work commitments. Mainly around the Ridgeway, but venture to South Wales and the southdowns some weekends.

My ride is a Specialized Epic Marathon, but it's a few years old now 06 I think?

Recently bought my first full suspension bike, Voodoo Canzo. Halfords were doing a good deal with 15% off before Christmas

As for where, basically all over the Surrey Hills (Box Hill and Leith Hill)

I am lucky enough to work in the Industry so get to choose various bits of exotica.

Current favourites in the fleet vary between Trek Top Fuel for all out XC speed, BLUR LT Carbon for longer travel fun, & if I am feeling brave a Session 9

Cannock chase is pretty good (and close), Sherwood Pines is OK (even closer)

Got to spend some time on the Utah Slickrock last year, absolutely amazing place, hopefully going to go back soon.

1996 Kona kilaeua XT groupset Time ATAC and original flite saddle like riding a stanley knife .....Rigids the way to ride none of this gay boy suspension malarky...Project II all the way.

My old Cinder Cone (stolen now) had my all time fave groupset, suntour XC pro so precise especially on the twitchy stuff....

When I was in the RAF my bike went everywhere, Germany Kuwait Saudi Ascension the best was 4 months on Mnt Alice Falklands, some real big drop offs and gnarly downhills cows head was a massive scree slide, death slide was a shear rock face which was a tad **** your pants but just mad as ****, the BVs used to churn the **** out of the ground but in time helped produced some real interesting and constantly changeing trails......

me too ... Santa Cruz Blur :D and Trek 8000 :D both getting a bit long in the tooth now

Oh and when I'm felling like a blast on the road me other Trek

Mainly on the South Downs but usually get to Coed Y Brenin once a year and couple of times to Lake District :)

I'm with Mr Brightside, Cannock Chase is great, the follow the dog trail, although it can get quite busy and rather commercial is really good,

I've got a Specialized Rockhopper, I know its not many purist's choice but I got it at a decent price and does the job -
although its annoying that they change it ever so slightly each year!

Agree there, never go near the place at weekends, aswell as being super busy, there are lots of really underprepared people (unsuitable clothing, no spares, helmets, etc) riding BSO's (bicycle shaped objects) on trails that demand a certain skill level.

Before I get accused if being a bike snob, I'm not, but I have seen too many people get hurt by being in the wrong place on the wrong equipment or with the wrong skill level.

It's great that they want to get out & do things, but the trails are signed & colour coded for a reason, fortunately it's less if a problem in the big trail centres in Scotland etc due to there remoteness.

Go to Cannock on a Sunday afternoon in the summer & watch the steady stream of paramedics arrive & you will see what I mean.

/Rant Mode :)

Some very tasty bikes there fellas!! 8)

Just picked up my new bike yesterday afternoon :D :

It's a GT Aggressor XC2 20" - I got it through our Cycle2Work scheme at work - basically a government backed hire purchase agreement with my employer that means I get to spend £500 but only pay back £330 over 18 months :D :D

Apparently any firm can set up a Cycle2Work scheme so lobby your boss and get on board!!

;)

i do a bit of xc on a 09 speciilazed hardrock pro and some dh on an old 03 patriot with a few upgrades

this is an old one of the standard patriot, doesent look much like that nowadays

usually ride at sherwood pines and dalby forest and ocasionaly hamilton hill free ride pk

Yep. I have a 2009 giant reign zero and giant VT1 (05 vintage) but has a busted rear shock at the mo which means me and the missus can't go out together until I get a new one (they seem sloop pricey!)

I mostly ride at delamere forest (every thursday night if anyone is local), llandegla whenever possible but going up to the lakes this weekend to do the Altura trail on Saturday and Grizedale on Sunday. Also as my wife is going on holiday with the kids and the in laws in July and not taking me, it would be a shame not to head down to Morzine & les Getz for a weeks camping and top trails!

I try to ride every sunday, usually the Seven Sisters,
South Downs or Friston Forest are all local to me.
This is my Marin Quake 5, also got a Quake 7 and an old
Palisade Trail.

I'm with "evenstar"..
I've got a Specialized Rockhopper 2008, I think.
Mostly local trails around Farmers land or Rutland area but ocasional visits to Chicksands or Thetford.

8) lots of bikes!

I usually ride at Sherwood Pines too, most weekends in fact!
