You should be able to repair the fiber glass, you will need some matting and 2 part resin, this should be available on ebay some where. Make the repair bigger than the damaged area to spread the stress.

As for hinges not sure where you will get those, are they simple hinges, could you get crewe engineering to make you a pair, if you give them what left of the old ones?

Thanks chaps - looks like I'll have a bash at repairing it. never used fibre glass/resin before so hope I don't balls it up! Frankie has PM'd me some instructions on how he has done this so I'll give it a go and do a 'How 2' at the same time!
Cheers so far lads! - Rob

Speak to Peter at Dormo, hes now running the show, he should be able to sort out some inges and give you some pointers

Just had another look at your pics, one half of the hinge is in the fiber glass. You should be able to cut this out using a grinder, make sure you rough up the surface of the old glass with a wire cup brush on a drill this will give the new glass and resin some thing to key into.

As for applying new glass matting it not that hard, mix your resin to the instructions paint the area liberally with the resin, put your new hinge in place (use a few bolts to pull the hinge onto the roof and to get it lined up with the old holes), apply more resin onto the degrease hinge, lay new glass matting over the top and apply more resin with a brush, and work into the matting. A decorators wallpaper edge roller can be used to push the matting down. Use the brush or roller to push out all the air bubbles. If more layers are needed apply more matting and resin.

I would give the whole thing at least a week to cure before refitting.

OK thanks y'all, I'll do that while the bodywork is being done. I have to take the pop top anyway while Kraftwerk can weld the new roof sections in where it has rubbed away!

watch this space!

mine is the same! i just clean out the rust (all of it just fell out. and put a new plate on the back. new stainless acrews through and bob's yer uncle.
