Has anyone enquired about the prospect of getting a discount from csp or one of their UK agents on wide 5 front disk brake conversions at any time if we go in for a quantity buy as a club?

Anyone interested in the prospect if I looked into it?

I'll want discs at some point, so always interested - not sure if budgets allow just yet, but quick question - what do you mean by 'wide 5' - I am guessing you mean the wheel stud layout - ie: the older, larger-spread ones (can't remember the BCD)??
cheers

wide five means the early 205 bcd bolt pattern as you would find on splits and early earlys (upto 1970?) but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to include the later 5x130 pattern as well, it's all about getting a discount by quantity.

5x112

5x130 is Porsche fit.

HTH :)

If Marvin's going to be pedantic then so will I - it's PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter)! :D

;)

I'm used to bicycles where you refer to BCD for chain rings which is Bolt Circle Diameter and as it's my thread I can call it what I like  :D

 - I edited my 'PCD' to 'BCD' after seeing that post!
Sorry giraffeinbath, didn't mean to hijak the thread - BTT for the post-work crowd!!

Bicycles I know what I'm talking about, vans, cars or anything as such I would be the first to admit that I'll probably get it wrong so feel free to edit any of my post's as appropriate :D

It's a read what I mean, not what I say thing!

By far the cheapest and best brake conversion is changing your wide 5 drums and spindles for post '73 bays and late bay rear drums. I know it means having 5x112 stud pattern, but that easily disguisable with a set of alloys. I'm in the process of doing this. I have even managed to convert late bay drums to a T25 setup with auto adjusters.

I want to keep my wide 5 steel wheels so personally I'm looking at the CSP 14" disks to achieve this. I agree that it's probably a lot cheaper to go the late bay disks route though if you're using a 5x112 set up.

i straight switched my 71 discs calipers and spindles for a late setup for cheaper pads easier to find parts etc.

I would love to change the rear to discs also and am keeping a close eye on tipi's homebrew conversion thread.

Rear disks aren't really needed IMHO.

But they dont half make maintaining them easier, getting springs slipping and piercing your fingers on those cold wet days aint a lot of fun ohh the pain of scrubbing the oil and **** out ....I must remeber to buy a pair of spring spreaders (I keep saying that but inevitably do it with a pair of long nose)

im planning on a big engine possibly a 2100 or a 2276, wouldnt discs all round be a safer option?
