took the wire from term 54 off the switch, and then took this wire to the right brake light then to the left. everything was working, then i changed one rev bulb for one 21 wat orange bulb on the left side, now the left side dont work, took the orange bulb out put back the rev bulb now this one dont work,is it that the left front has blown when i put the orange one in? its a 1969 us.
Could you be a little more specific with what is wrong. You originally said your indicators don't work, you are now saying that only one side doesn't work? Which? Also as I asked above does your horn work and do your brake lights still work, yes or no? Sorry to be pedantic but to help you we need as much information as possible as only you can see what is happening, we can't.
sorry, right i only had time to change one bulb so the left side not working but right side working with the rev light bulb, the left being the one i changed. horn still works so do the brake lights. thanks for your time mate.
I would therefore check the contacts of the bulb and the earthing of the lamp holder to the body. We had similar problems with the rear of a '68 and in the end the only solution was to wire separate earth wires to each lamp assembly on each side and direct to the body. So it was a case of linking the reverse light/indicator to the rear lamp assembly to the chassis. VW did this on later versions to overcome the crap design of the early bay's electrics.
