Since putting the Westy on the road about this time last year I have been ironing out problems.

One of the biggest problems has been the amount of judder from the clutch when pulling away in first.

It can be ok to annoying and embarrasing. I have the engine out at the moment and going to fit a new Sachs clutch kit which comes with a new plate and also the release bearing.

When I pulled the engine there was oil in the bell housing so I am going to fit a new flywheel seal and 'O' ring too. Although the clutch was dry as a bone the clutch pad was worn out for sure.

I also noticed that the small clips either side of the release bearing have play in them, so going to get two new one's of these also.

The pressure plate also looked a bit worn so changing this, I hope, will help. All the conduits look to be in good order.

Is there anything I have missed please?

check the engine mounts ,see if they are split.also check bolts on engine bar as known them to be loose/striped/

Clutch judder is often down to an oil contaminated clutch. As you have found oil in the bell housing, that would be my main suspect. Clean up all the oil, new seal, new clutch and all should be good.

Hi mate,
I had this on my bus last year!!
I fitted a new clutch an it still did it!!
Tracked the problem down in the end to be a slightly warped flywheel face!
You can get the face scimmed but I just got a second hand flywheel
An that cured it!
Hope this helps an you get it sorted mate!
Cheers
Wilf

check the clutch cable conduit, it should have a bend in it and be fully seated. if it's popped out or is not bent then you will have clutch judder.
