BALL JOINTS ! Had an advisory last MOT for vertical play in upper ball joints, The vans been lowered for years so no surprise.
Only want to change these once so need to know who makes the best ones ?

Just because you're lowered, it shouldn't mean they wear out any quicker than normal, unless you're exceeding their limits. In which case quality won't make a lot of difference and even quality ones will wear out fast!

Hi thanks for responding. The vans been running lowered for about 20 years and the originals have lasted this long I just want to get some that will last as long as possible.

In that case, any of the 'German quality' ones from the bigwigs should be fine. Personally I've used meyle ones, and although I can't see the internals - the seal and clips seem well put together and hold the grease without leakage.

Meyle as discussed.

Do you think the Meyle joins have improved then Alex?

I was going to get these but remember reading this some time ago....makes for interesting reading but unless you cut one up you won't ever know. Think I'll go Lemforder

I have heard of these, where can I get them as have not seen these advertised ? Also does any one have any tips for separating ball joints from the knuckle ( apart from the obvious brute force approach.)

That is ages old and inncorrect from what I have heard from Meyle, but I am no expert just going on the information provided to me.

P.s. I installed meyle joints on my van 6 years ago, will need new rubber boots for next years MOT but apart from that are all good!

Alex, I've no idea on the date of the article but I know a garage who have had a number of issues with Meyle joints and will not fit them. Can heritage afford to send me one out with a damaged boot (i.e. shop soiled) and I'll cut it in 1/2 and post up the pics to see if they've changed the design

They come in cardboard boxes so we have no shop soiled ones knocking about I'm afraid.

This is our findings:

Lemforder vs Meyle , which offers more travel on a lowered van as this is the main cause of wear ?
