hi all. just got an ignitor elec ignition kit. in the instructions it says how to fit with and without a ballast resitor. from looking in the haynes im pretty sure i havent got one.anyone disagree? its a 69 denver import.cheers steve.

The ballast resistor is used within the coil primary windings to drop the current a tad.....

if you have a ohmmeter measure across + (15 ) and - (1) and if theres a ballast resistor fitted you hope to see a couple (2-3ish) ohms if its virtually short cct 0 ohms then you want to stick a resistor in series ignition to + terminal.

some kits have the ballast resistor with them if not then there readily available in most vw outlets or electronics stores or ebay has plenty
