Hi guys new here and new to Bays so please be gentle. I purchased a 78 Bay 2ltr about a month ago. 2 days ago I had a flat battery, mechanic jump started me. Took the van for a drive when got back I noticed the battery warning light was still on with the ignition off and key out. Any ideas?

Many thanks Smithy

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
I would say that the regulator pack on the alternator has blown, that might be why your battery was flat.

Regulator is separate on a 2ltr :)

Sounds like either a dodgy dash connection, faulty regulator or faulty alternator

Regulator is probably easiest to check , is your van fuel injection or carb ?

You should have a hatch in the back too

Sorry I don’t know much about these things. I know there is a separate regulator that switches charge between starter battery and leisure battery.

Then it's likely to be the wiring between the alternator and regulator, or the regulator itself.

It is most likely a faulty diode in alternator allowing currant to back feed, if you dont know a diode is a one way valve for electric. Might be a faulty reg though as solid state . Not likely to be a wiring fault .
