Best Portable Barbecue

Can anyone recommend a good portable charcoal barbecue that could be used to grill for 4 to 5 people?

I really like my Cobb.

That's what I'm starting to lean toward. Either the Cobb or the Cobb Supreme (which is a lot bigger).

This has been discussed in great length on Facebook over the last few days. I will post here what I posted on there.

The cobb isn't a bbq, you can bbq with it but if all you are planning on doing is BBQ's get a proper one as they are much better. If you want something the works as a BBQ but is al capable of being an oven, smoker and so much more buy the cobb.

I have a cobb and I love it but I don't just use it as a BBQ

Depends on what space you have left in your van when packed . I've got the standard cobb and it's a fair lump. Being round and tall there's no hole to hide it in the westy, it has to go over the engine bay. Its my best bit of camping kit, get a gillie kettle too. Free hot water after cooking for washing up and a brew!

I've got a big green egg and love the flexibility (roast, grill, smoke, bake) - the Cobb looks like the nearest thing to that. I guess the other alternative is one of the small Weber BBQ's.

the single best BBQ that used to be on the market via B&Q but no longer available thru them, and this lady has imported a few. Promise you wont be disappointed!

Welcome, believe me if I could import some I would, they used to be very popular with caravanners and used to be about £35 from B&Q

I get on very well with a webber smokey Joe but we are not big eaters so not sure if it would be big enough for you.

A friend has the smokey Joe - seems a little bit unstable? Especially if you try and move it when it's cooking!

I love my portable weber, cost about £65-70. Bought it last year before two weeks camping in France, used it most days, you can cook/smoke a whole spatchcocked chicken on it as well as normal BBQ stuff. The lids helps food cook evenly and if you throw a handful of damp wood chips on (like hickory) it gives a real nice smokey flavour. Bingo.
