Aye, I wouldn't be too happy if I had a black widow in my bus

Can you trap them somehow and give them to the RSPCA or a zoo or something?

I've not quite thought of a good way to trap them though... I wouldn't wanna get that close

I'd be getting pest control to fumigate the garage and the van - I'll tolerate spiders, but would draw the line and potentially evil ones

:animal0017:

Is your van a US import?

yes it is mate, landed last may 08 there only ment to live for a year

ah - I ask as Midland Early Bay found one in my imported van last week.....with egg sack  - if yours are second generation it would make them officially Brits! :D

Look for moles thread on here about the black widow & egg sacs we found in his imported van - no-one wanted to touch it, council, rentokill etc he ended up donning a paper suit & mask then spraying the van himself!

Oh great, mine was imported last month from Cali, I've found a few spiders webs but hopefully they are just some of our local spiders that seem to be everywhere.

Best not let the missus see this posting otherwise she will never get in the bus again

If there females (large black shiney with an hour glass) there nasty although if your healthy you'll survive albeit not a very pretty sight, if there male small brown and look for all intensive purposes like garden spiders your fine as the venom is negligeable, the spiderlins are harmless so get in there and clean them out and start swatting.....

The bitch in mine went for me I lept out the slider it followed, chased it under the wifes car before loosing it....Have to admit I've found some nasty spiders recently in the garden and if I didnt know better I'd swear they were hybrids....

to think i was led under your van only a few days ago
   i should get the van out your garage and clear it right out , then take your van out daves and waxoil the underside,

Black with red markings is a female. Here in California in my work shop the wife his killed 5 or 6 in the last 2 month. They are very popular in the warmer parts of Califonia almost as bad as ants. In your colder climate they will not move real fast. Kill them with brake cleaner in the spray can. When you see them remove the webs. Without the web they will starve and die. Spider killing spray will not kill the eggs. If you can see the eggs remove them and crush them. Normally they are not very aggresive.
