Black with red markings is a female. Here in California in my work shop the wife his killed 5 or 6 in the last 2 month. They are very popular in the warmer parts of Califonia almost as bad as ants. In your colder climate they will not move real fast. Kill them with brake cleaner in the spray can. When you see them remove the webs. Without the web they will starve and die. Spider killing spray will not kill the eggs. If you can see the eggs remove them and crush them. Normally they are not very aggresive.

We've had a few of these about, found one in the house the other day :shock:

I couldn't imagine living in a country with deadly wildlife, I can wander around any british wood at night and not have to worry about bears, snakes, spiders, cougars e.t.c. - though Badgers do have sharp claws and I reckon squirrels could be vindictive little buggers (they look the type)

Makes me appreciate it more, though stupidly I'm now imaging spiders in my garage are deadly.....and the van's not even been in here - paranoia!

i need the fly spray the farmer used where iam working he sprayed the flys and baby rats were dropping from the roof :lol:

A few months ago i had some Africian import doors in the garage, went in one morning to get something out of the garage and there was a big black hairy spaider snuggled up in the sheet the doors was on. I Didnt give it chance to find out what it was, i put a scredriver through its head then jumped on it. I think it took the hint who was the boss.

Still havnt told her indoors yet. Had the doors in house for a few days, well it was a bit too cold to work in the garage.
