new install with twin 40 dellortos and notice spitting back on one cylinder when idling after cold start, lasts about 1 or 2 minutes, then settles down. Its the same barrel that has the manifold tapped for the brake servo. Is this normal? Wonder if tapping all 4 manifolds is the better way.

Servo will not cause this. Either the mixture is too weak on that cylinder or your servo/pipework/connections or the manifold itself are not sealed and allowing air to be drawn in.

feedback on this,Trikky comment was spot on, one of the flexible bits of the vacuum pipe under the floor had perished, replaced the whole lot with some 10mm copper (leftover microbore plumbing stuff), sorted.
