Strikes me we need a breakdown essentials list of spares you should keep in your bus.
Those not in the know should learn how to fit these parts to save those embarrassing breakdown calls.
Spares essentials
Spare wheel with good tyre
Points and condensor
Coil
HT leads
Spark plugs
Distributor cap
Rotor arm
Fan belt
Wire and male/female connectors
Screw type electrical connector (for fixing accelerator/clutch cable)
Fuses
Sand paper for cleaning points/spark plugs/rotor arm
Fuel Filters
Spares not essential
Full set of wheel bearings
Bulb set
Accelerator cable
Clutch cable
Distributor
Tools
Wiring diagram, for those times when a wire pops off its terminal
Jack
Axle stands
Good spanner and socket set, try Halfords ratchet range, they have a lifetime guarantee
Screwdriver set
Bearing/hub puller
Pump
Torch
Battery jumper/jump leads
Wheel brace/breaker bar and sockets
Big adjustable spanner
Wheel chocks
Timing gun
Small plastic milk jug for filling oil
Duct tape (comes in handy for many situations :? )
Wire strippers
Feel free to add to the list so we can make it definative...
Believe it or not I carry most of this stuff in my bus, just not the bearings, as proved on Sunday!
