So I seem to be having a problem acquiring breakdown Recovery that will cover me for Europe also.
mainly due to the age of the vehicle, the price rockets well in excess of £300 for the year when asked how old the vehicle is!
Does everyone else have this problem?
Anyone recommend an alternative to the usual suspects RAC, AA, GreenFlag.....:-?
I'm currently insured with Flux, who didn't offer recovery with my policy (I wonder why!) so I'm stumped!

With Ninove fast approaching, I really don't fancy taking my chances abroad without some form of cover!

If you can change your insurance go with RH specialised insurance get free cover including Europe mine was only £160. I understand this may not help now but you could call them up and ask who they use?

If you can join the CSMA you get a good deal with Britannia Rescue for Euro cover, no price hikes for age of vehicle.

Established since 1923, CSMA Club is an organisation that is run by its members for its members.

One of the most important things to know about CSMA Club is that many of our offers are exclusive to our members , current and ex Civil Servant employees and their families. To qualify for membership, you must have worked or be working in the Civil Service or Central Government department or be a partner, sibling, child or parent of a current member.

If you or a family member also work for an ex government organisation such as Royal Mail or BT you an also join CSMA.

Cheers
Rob

RH insurance is the best mate my bus is £120 fully comp with European breakdown cover .. :D

civil servants...........................

having gone through this a coupla years ago when we first went to france, the old girl is to old for green flag and some of the others, the cheaper one that came with insurance was a bit basic. we used AA in the end but had a mate who used AA he broke down in swiss alps (starter motor) called the AA they got the new motor shipped to his camp site next day and he fitted himself, so you get what you pay for i think worth the extra to know if you do breakdown you get the works either fixed, recovered taken to a grarage or they ship the parts if needed.

we never used it but it was for a year and covered uk as well so had the same peace of mind going to shows and other weekends away

Worth actually checking what it says in your policy regarding EU brakedown....

The AA are bellends.

I paid £48 for 24 hours cover last week (on top of std. UK member fee!) as I was doing a run to Luxembourg. My alternator went in Belgium and I rang them to be given a load of crap about my car not being worth much and being unlikely to get recovered or repaired. Thanks.

I limped to the Chunnel and eventually PUSHED my Clio off the train once back in Blighty and rang for recovery.

It took THE 4TH EMERGENCY SERVICES 2.5 hours to reach me, and at that point although the recovering driver (a Bay owner from Ashford recovery whose son repairs VWs for a living as a welder - nice guy) could take me all the way home the AA decided to try and split my journey over THREE trucks...

I didn't take this lying down, and eventually the recovering driver from Ashford indeed was "magically" authorised to take me the whole way...

The AA are a bunch of cints. Absolute cooksuckers and I'd rather sleep with a 90 year old man than give them one penny more of my money. Really, the AA can literally go and get an ergonomically-shaped handle and go flock themselves. Twunts.

I do hope that's not ambiguous. I really don't trust the bustards. Oh, and bear in mind that their EU recovery policy is based on market rates of vehicle value... just saying.

Ive been with RH since I got my bus nearly 9 years ago , broke down twice in europe once with seized steering box in biarittz (lucky I took a spare :D ) and last year in antwerp when I managed to dislodged my R9 steering rack connecting rod on a monster pothole
Both times the recovery peeps were easy to deal with and managed to get my bus back on the road without too much drama

I would consider changing insurance companies
