Ive got a UK RHD 72 dormobile 8) and sounds like you all have my rust share  as mine is rust free :D

early bay UK Sales figures:
Year Transporter Motorcaravan Total
1967 2151 1387 3538
1968 1968? 2148 4116
1969 2444 2368 4812
1970 3002 3317 6319
1971 3128 5484 8612
1972 6048 9325 15373
1973 6875 7986 14861

1972 was highest number sold between 1955-1995
I assume figures for 1968 are right, but coincidence?

No wonder there are so many 72s around :D

Out of interest, where did you find the figures ?

....so the obvious extension to this question, is there any way of knowing how many are still on the road today?

I agree with J+M, especially if it's penned in the right way.
"Needed for historical/factual reference for a book I'm considering publishing" with special thanks to the DVLA for their contribution

Might put pen to paper for this one :D

Will the DVLA be able to identify our vans then? I was under the impression that people registered them as different things - think my current one is a motor caravan but sure my last one was registered as something different (cant remember what though).
Whos got what listed on their log book?

EDIT: possibly registered as a microbus?

You could try the DVLA via the Freedom of Information Act - but they're not obliged to answer spurious questions - might be worth a go though!!!

;)

Might have a pop at this then, might get round to registering the bug as sorn before I do as though, no need to commit suicide by dvla if I don't need too

nice idea but cant see us getting that far with DVLA on total numbers .. I assume that all original conversions should be registered as motorcaravans but dont think its a certainty...
but still great project if someone fancies taking it on ...

I am slowly collecting details via the register and forum registrations (I will get some stats together on this soon ) ...

Mines down as a Clipper with body type as estate
