How do they work? They don't work with the speedo cable, do they?
I read somewhere that they need an electric impulse and I wonder where to get the signal from.

They will use the standard speedo cable or something similar just that you can calibrate the reading from it. i.e. drive at a steady 50mph on a gps device and it will set the speedo up for you. They can't use a pulse from the coil as that would rely on engine revs... Sat still revving the engine and you would be doing 70mph...

Sorry yes they work on a converter from a stock speedo cable.
