can I mix oil brands...?

I have 2 litres of Halford 20/50 classic oil left in the bottom of a can and 1.5 litres of Rompetrol 20/50 from Romania, can I put them both in on my next oil change? Obviously not all 3.5 litres but top the halfords up with the other?

I'm sure you can, as long as it's both mineral or both synth, don't think they mix well otherwise, but minerals are fine I'm sure.........someone will be along in in a bit
