Theres a few in the book that aren't on the website though and the book has a lot of background info to back it all up with :wink:

Will email Vincent soon with the unknowns I've found out :)

When I get my van ill put up my plate shouldn`t be too much to de code as it`s a Panel Van 8)

Where do I find these M codes?

I'm sure I asked before but I can't find my post anywhere :lol:

Found this on a plate behind passenger seat:

** *** *** <<chassis number

060651 A41 141 191 793

02 1 7553 EN 2340 11

I'll see if I can work any of that out :)

edit: I've confused myself :oops:

EN means english bus, yes?

edit 2: also found a sticker there with p....weiss L90 D on it.

that is it Tofui . 8) Another one for you Speedman - One a day mate you need that tag under your name :wink:

I would be very grateful if you could work that one out for me speedman :D

I think 141 is heating in cargo area (got that in me van so it makes sense)

and 191 is bellypans? (got em too)

I have the same guide. Got it for Christmas. Its a fab book! :D

191 is outer and centre belly pans, Tofui. 141 is indeed heating in the cargo area. :)

Done it myself I think

Line 2:

0606 < pastelweiss
51< Dark Beige leatherette
A41 = GB spec lights, MPH speedo
141 = interior heating
191 = centre and outer bellypans
793 = unknown

Line 3:

02/1 < monday, 2nd week of 1971 (would that be the 4th or 11th jan?)

7553 = no idea

EN = UK bus
2340 11 = RHD kombi, LHS sliding door, 50hp engine, manual gearbox :D

060651 = pastel white roof and body L90D dark beige leatherette interior

A41 = group code 020, 061, 187
020 = speedometer and odometer in miles
061 = Type labeling of seat mounting and identification for England and Ireland
187 = Headlamps for countries with left hand traffic

141 =Heater outlet in rear part of cargo compartment

191 = With outer and centre underfloor plates

793 = Production number indicating a special note in the German license papers, gas heater fitted

02 1 = Production date monday 11th January

7553 = temporary serial number

EN = Destination code for UK, Ramsgate

2340 = Kombi RHD sliding door left standard version

11 = 1600cc engine with 4spd gearbox

793 relates to late 70s Westfalias, but is probably just an earlier version of the heater :wink:

Thanks Speedman 8)

if 793 refers to a gas heater, I definitely havn't found one in the van yet :lol:

Could the production number have been a "special note in the german license papers" as the chassis number ends with 500?

Thanks anyway :wink:

Not sure, the 700 codes refer to special codes, parts removed from a van or added or unusual stuff, that code was for a Westfalia heater on 77-79 vans.

Might be chassis number related, but I would have thought its something that the German license people needed to be warned about for transporting to the dealers/exporters such as a petrol heater. :wink:
