is the chassis number the same number that is on a small plate behind my drivers seat
a 10 digit number that is called SERIAL NUMBER
starting 231*******

ive had her 3 years under a cover and dont really know what ive got

so its a 71 kombi , is that it or can i find out more like if its a westi or devon

if so what determins what it could be

1st number indicates the vehicle type. Type 2
2nd number indicaes the model type. 3= Kombi
3rd number the model year. 71

No, panel van, microbus, ambulance, etc.
Camping conversions were carried out after the vehicle left the factory.

so with money and time, i could make mine a westy or what every model i wanted

its just personal prefrence?

as i am making mine up from scratch my self, will it just be a kombi custom? or what do you think it be

Most companies used a Kombi as the base for their conversions. You can do whatever you like to yours. It will be whatever you want it to be. Have fun.
