Hi all, couple of questions.
Need to fit my nice shiny VW badge to the front of my 72 crossover. Would appreciate if somebody could get a measuring stick out & let me know the exact position it should be.
Also as I've got to drill the four holes I bought the fittting clips (poxy little bits of rubber  ). Now to me this doesn't seem to be a very secure way of attaching the badge what has everybody else done ? clue, silicon sealant (love that stuff :D ) etc etc
Cheers for any advice you can give.

I don't have a ruler to measure for you, but I can assure you as long as you don't super big holes those rubber things do keep it put :D gotta be a snug fit thou :D my badge is just pushed on.

Drop tofufi a pm he got the measurements some time back...

No Need, I'm right here :D

The badge should be approx 1 inch down from the lower lip of the grille.

I stuck my badge pins through a piece of card, and used the card as a template for the holes. I then got a change of mind and haven't fitted the badge yet :(

I fitted mine the other week..where some of the rubber seals looks weak I used bathroom sealant...helps secure the badge and keep the water out...

i had the ring clips for the badge which are impossible to take of unless you take a screwdriver to it. they only fit one way and grip kind of the way one of those finger puzzles work, the more you pull the further they cut in. They are the same as decklid script clips only round. Like this

doesn't bathroom sealant cause corrosion :?:

I'm sure it does.....

...slightly different but so does washing up liquid... :|

bugger - but I can't find anything on the web that suggests that? I'm guessing it depends on the type of sealant used!

Washing up liquid has a lot of salt in it hence the corrosion thing, don't know about bathroom sealant.
Try some on some chips and see if it works with vinegar.
