Started to get a bit of clutch judder on take off and also significant clutch slip when going from 3rd to 4th (ok, I admit it - this was between 'Chicago' and the 'Hammerhead' last weeked for some more TG laps.... 8) )

Popped the engine out this afternoon:

This is what I saw first:

Note the angle of the bearing surface - not parallel to the clutch...

Took the clutch plate off and found one cracked spring:

Is this enough to cause the juddering/slipping issue. Obviously it ain't anyway, so I guess I have to replace the clutch.. - was only a year or so old.
Any recomendations to a decent replacement - standard 1.6 SP 1968...

Cheers

I think your pressure plate is not giving a equal pressure causing the cracked spring.
Check the release bearing fork that pushes it forward, one of the forks can be cracked or bend causing the above.
I would renew it all.

Umm...nope, clutch release bearing and forks are all good, so I guess it must have been the spring that caused the problem?

How about the bearing that holds the clutch fork at the cable side?
I had the bearing worn out and the axle was under a angle so only one of the forks did all the work for pushing the release bearing out.
But you have to undo the spring to feel if its worn out.
