Right, i dropped the engine and i've taken the clutch off and photographed it as it came off.
First thing i noticed was a spring had come off, see pic.

I don't know if this could of been the cause to the slipping, probably didn't help, I also noticed an oily residue in the bell housing. Is this normal?

This (above)had a black residue on, and also the outer edge was slightly scored.

Doesn't look too bad, a little dirty, but no cracks or grooves or scratches.(above)

Again dirty, but no obvious damage.
What do you guys think?
 
Well, the spring coming off will not have helped your cause. The friction plate looks as though it is getting well down as it is getting close to the rivets plus there is evidence of oil contamination. I would replace the lot including the thrust bearing. That is an early type you have fitted.
