Greetings to you all, I have been visiting this site for over a year now, lusting over all your delicious restorations. I am outing myself and joing your ranks with my first ever bus. Bought in February and landed in May. Sourced via the Samba.com. Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed. She was filthy when she arrived so I washed her and she buffed up pretty good. I'll post more pics tomorrow. Enjoy!

These are shots before it crossed the water.

Nice tidy looking project base, doesnt look like it needs a lot to tidy up or run as is. Wish mine had whitewall all round for running with till i finsh my porsche set up and swap.

Intrigued by the press studs along the windscreen bubble, whats all that about.

Im guessing thats Sierra yellow too, is it a sunroof too?

oops, you post more why i was writing, whats with the 72 on vent grafted on the drivers side rear, what engine is it packing.

Also what did you use to mop/polish it (G3). Its something i must do to see how mine comes up, looks almost matt green at the mo

Hi,
Yes it is a sierra yellow, I think it was resprayed as some point, possibly in the early 1990's thats when the original owner put a new engine in. The studs, they were for a "bra" as they go down over the bumpers too. The undercarriage is solid, but cab fllor has some holes.

Yes it's a sun roof, but needs sorting out.

There is an extra louvre which was added to help with the cooling, (seperate oil cooler) it has a 1600 engine runs but needs a MOt and a good service.

I got a mech and handle (original) off the samba for mine for around £30. Also needs new cables, had a look at K&K and they sell em for around £160 each (mine are busted at both ends and mangled where they have been squashed in)

Then found this place for em

http://www.eisparts.com/BCP.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

$135 each, so even when our customs whack their ridiculously inflated charges on top they will still be way cheaper. Waiting for em to come in so i can have a proper play and take my duct tape and wooden block out :lol:

With the MOT i'd just do the lights and then take it, you may be surprised at how little it will need (on top of lights mine only needed a brake pipe and the squirters sorting)
