Evening folks,

I'm crackin' on building up a 'stockish' Type 1 engine and I was just wondering what sort of compression ratio I should be aiming to achieve.

I'm only asking cos I'm led to believe that the higher the ratio, the higher the operating temp and cos the engine will be in my bus I don't really want to be creating a 'hot' engine.

I'm just doing the usual checks of deck height and capacity of the heads although having said that I can't do the heads cos they're still being worked by GAC motorsport :D :D :D

Any views?

Cheers

Ian

Allan at GAC normally runs about 1.5mm deck height on a stock engine, thats about 8.3 to 1 I think. That should be fine for a bus engine.

Thanks Pete, much appreciated.

Another one for y', which make of Rockers would you go for between say CB and Scat? I'm tempted to go for the 1.4:1s, would this be overall kill though, would 1.25:1 be more sensible?

Cheers

Ian

If you are going stockish, then a 1.25 would be best. I have the EMPI set from Kingfisher Kustoms. They are half the price & a nice piece of kit!
