con rods

hi re-building a beetle 1300 engine. the con rods dont appear to have numbers on hem does anyone know a way round it. also bought new small end bushes for them, the old ones had holes in them but the new ones haven't help!!!!!!!!!!!!

what do you mean they dont have numbers? any con rod can go on any journal as long as the numbers stamped in the side match the rod to the rod head/cap and the raised lug on top faces upwards.

re small end bearings, fit them then re drill the holes, you wouldnt match the old holes up so you make your own. :wink:
