conrod play???

I'm in the middle of stripping my engine.

Take the pistons off and....

Question.... Should there be any play in the con rods????? i have only play in 1 of the rods and it only about 1/2" play left and right. No play in and out????

When you say left and right, do you mean up and down the length of the crankshaft?

Sorry, as you would see the 2 piston in the block. the rod goes from the fly wheel to the front of the block??

Yeah thats what i meant :lol: there should be a VERY SLIGHT tolerance of play but nothing excessive

That is abit more than i'd expect tbh and you say it's only on 1 rod, how much play do the other 3 have?

It is possible that the oil gallery for that journal got blocked starving the shell of oil therefore causing excessive wear.
Not saying thats deffo the problem, it's hard to be sure without looking at it myself .
