Hi all,

About to tidy up some wiring etc in the engine bay. Can someone with a crossover take a picture of where the earth from their battery goes please? I have had mine attached to engine block forever and a day but want to put it back to stock and keep it tidy.

Cheers,
Dave

There should be a diagonal piece of metal between the battery tray and where the engine lid stay bar mounts. It bolts on there. It sounds like yours has been a bit bodged, is the gearbox earth strap still in place. Make sure it is and both ends are clean and secure.

Cheers for reply.

Mine doesn't seem to have the diagonal piece, thought perhaps this is as the rear is more akin to a late with fixed valance etc...perhaps I should try tlb. Good point about the Gearbox Earth - I've just got a new Earth strap and I'm going to get under and clean up and fit it just in case this is an issue.

Anyone else got a crosser without the diagonal metal bit?

Dave

OK. So I have looked at pis on here and TLB...

My van doesn't have the Early triangular structure next to valance like an Early...
It doesn't have an earthing point next to paint lid/filter stand like a late.

I have seen one picture of an earth lead heading back to the battery tray somewhere...although mine has been replaced so unsure (not in a pretty way!)

Anyone with a crossover can describe where there battery negative attaches to the body?

Ta,
Dave

I was thinking the other day when I saw this post that it went on the battery tray but wasnt sure have replaced a tray that had a factory spotted on square nut in the tray but cant remember what year it was

Pretty sure mine bolts through the battery tray and its unmolested ;)
Nowhere near it currently but will check when I can and let you know.

Cool, My tray is a replacement and only has what looks like a drainhole at front and the angled captive nut for battery clamp. I may drill a hole in it rather than molest another part of bus. I just hope the welds give good connectivity.

Is the hole near rear of bus behind battery?

Dave
