Cv joint bolt torque settings.

Just changed my cv boots. However when I took the damaged ones off (been on less than 2 years). The bolts were loose. I’ve nipped up the new ones but I’m scared to put to much pressure on as they seem very prone to round off.

Firstly what are the correct torque settings I’ve read somewhere 44nm
Second I am using a mixture of 6mm Allan key and torque bits but nothing really feels like I can put some pressure on without rounding them off.

It’s 25 footpounds in Bentley, which is 33.9Nm. This is for the socket head bolts. Don’t forget the schnorr lock washers.
If the bolts heads, that is the socket inside, is damaged at all it’s best to replace them.

The original bolts were neither hex head or torx, but tri-square. Replace them all with new ones from Butty's Bits.

some were allen key, some spline

Use blue loctite and make sure you fit the spreader plates.

spreader plates fitted I’ve got loctite but no washers. They were never fitted. So off to buy them next.
