so my dash lights dont work..the ones that light the clocks when you turn lights on, i've got a diagram but its complicated!..if one bulb was gone would that stop them all working?
the indictor green lights work to show there on but only for a couple of clicks? blue light works for side lights but not green for main beam?...anyone understand my ramblings? ANY HELP or advice would be glady accepted!

i love my bay but she beats me :?

Green should only be on when the sidelights go on, and then go out on normal (dipped beam) headlights.

The blue should indicate full beam is on.

Do you also say the speedo illuminating bulbs don't work? The headlight switch can be rotates - like a dimmer switch - to control the brightness of the speedo lights.

so the green light does work for side lights as you stated but i'm not getting a blue at all, the dimmer action on light swith doesn't bring clock lights on  ?, never realised it rotated! thanks

It could be the lightbulbs have blown in the speedo, or another problem. From the wiring diagram, check all the connections on the switch and behind the speedo. I can't remember from memory exactly what is what.

Sometimes the dimmer switch doesn't exactly operate smoothly - mine is more random points of on / off. Try twiddling the switch a lot!

You could also try swapping the bulb for the one behind the green dash light (which you know works) to see if this solves the problem. In this case, just replace the bulbs - I bought mine from GSF.

For the blue light, again, check the wiring and bulb. If it is neither of these things, it is likely the relay is at fault. Does the relay operate correctly?
I.E.

When the headlights are OFF, pulling back the indicator switch only brings full beam on until you let go of the stalk.

When the headlights are on dipped beam, pulling back the switch and then releasing puts it on main beam, pulling back and releasing again turns it off.

If it doesn't operate correctly, the flasher relay (little metal box on the fusebox) could be full of water or corroded if you have a leaking windscreen seal.

your talking sense there... i have downloaded a colour coded wiring diagram(http://www.thesamba.com) and will have a good look at it over the weekend! thank you so much for taking the time to offer me some good advice! Best regards Lemur

No problems :D

If you don't mind me asking, whereabouts in the Midlands are you? I'm currently living in Birmingham :)

Good luck with the wiring ;)

i nocked the wire from my speedo clock the other day.. i may tudy all my cables one day with some tubing or cable ties.. has anybody done that?

your havin a laugh, its like bloody spagetti under there! i think i may wait till i put my new dash in :?
