usual story PO mullered the hole that the radio fits into.....

so it'll need fettling with the grinder and some new metal

BUT

do I weld it up completely and pop the stereo somewhere else - glovebox, in the back [I have remote]

or patch and repair...strikes me that the security isn't too tricky and the radio would be easily lifted

I did waste 30-40 minutes of my life searching through old threads, which came up with zero really in terms of what people had actually done in the end...........

roll up roll up..........

thanks in advance

D

apols for those who frequent other forums it is a multi forum approach!!

dare i ask did you template that up yourself? i have never come across an earlybay radio glovebox lining yet, lots of bug ones.

They musn't think we listen to music in bays or something! :|

All home brew...this is the mk3 , previous versions were facing square but as with
most lcd screens you have to look directly at them to read the screen. the original
glove box & strap are not used

this is my favourite solution - I will still tidy the hole up as opposed to welding it up, but the glove box or radio in the rear is def way forward!

source an old non working VW radio (peanuts on fleabay) and a dash cut, take the radio hole and surrounding metal out of the dash cut and replace your own, alot of people prefer this option. Have the blank period radio sitting in place looking cool as fook, and your 1000W stereo/satnav/dvdscreen in hidden in the g box like harlequin :D

thinking about it thats probably the best idea as to 'an outsider' it will look like the rusty old camper has a radio but its proper 80's rough tape player!! but hidden away is the real deal...................need to hide the speakers.

actually I need to get the thing painted and on the road!
