I have a box from a 71, it got itself to its final resting place not much salvageable missed the engine but snaffled the box dont really know why but getting it to you wouldnt be cheap fella...
Gearbox sorted. Looking for a good used engine that i can fit straight in. Must be for a bus and not a bug ie accept the mount. I know these are like rockin horse do do and generally a so called "good" engine is anything but. I`m a trusting type and i`d like to think we here on earlybay wouldn`t do each other over. Sure i could rebuild an old block but to be honest i just haven`t got the time
I might be getting a propper camper engine coming in early next week. I normally do a compression test to see what it's like, if it is low I pull them apart & do a top end rebuild. I can bear you in mind for when I sort this one out.
I can do powder coated tinware too if the budget will stretch to it.
Scott dug the box out (fecking hell I'm getting old), looks good free movement no excessive play diff feels good...obviously its not under load but as I said its stood for a good while and the bus it came off was shot but drove well......I'll degrease it (she kill me if I drag it through the house as is), so you can have a look at it...see you next week...
I sell long blocks that are tested for £250. Turn key engines are from about £350.
My last one sold for £430 & that is a sweet engine. The one I have with alternator & powder coated tinware is advertised at £595. It's a Beetle engine so not what you want.
The engine that is coming in soon will be about £400 - £450 depending on what it's got on it. I can have tin powder coated if required.
The days of cheap good engines are long gone. If you do find a cheap one, have a good look first & you might need to do some work on it. You may be lucky & find something...
Aaaron, thanks for the drop mate...much appreciated.
Rob`s work is first class he probably won`t mind me saying so but i think he`s a little bit anal about getting things just so. If it ain`t perfect do it again.
