Got myself the week off between the Sussex VW owners club show and Beachbuggin', so I'm chucking the mountain bike in the back of the bus and I'm going to take myself down the coast a bit. Obviously my first port of call on such matters is earlybay, and not some tourist info site :)

I'm thinking of going to 2 or 3 places maybe - just pottering around a bit and riding a few trails, somewhere near the coast would be good. Anyone been to any places and sites they could recommend?

cheers :)

Just got back from Harlyn Bay in Cornwall and had a great time. 7 good beaches around that area and thats without hitting Newquay. Polzeath is also great, i love that area of Cornwall.
Durdle Dor in Dorset is also a nice area. Stoney beach but steep cliffs behind so not over run with kids if your not down with that.
Also stayed at the site they use for the @the beach show in Paignton which is also quite good and well located for getting around that area.
My choice would be Polzeath/Harlyn area and the sun is shining again down here so if it wasnt for work id be down there again today.

Come and say hello at Beachbuggin. Im not camping as im staying in the New Forest that weekend. Will also be at Cornwall Jambo the following weekend.

I was just about to post a link to wildcamping.

I know the moderator through owning a smart.

Ditto to Woolacombe.

The red barn has a good atmosphere and there's overnight street parking along the coast road where you can watch the sunset.

we go to a different pub now most of the time as the red barn are getting a bit weird, We got asked to move away from our table after about 20 of us having just eaten 20 meals and bought more than 40 plus drinks. We had only finished our meals a couple of minutes earlier and it wasnt like we were not spending any money???? we were not being rowdy atall.
I am sure they would have liked the money of 20+ people eating and drinking for a few hours and not a family of four having a burger and chips and 2 cokes!

Oh well they still do great steak and ale pies! 8)
